Primark Cotton Candy MakeUp Collection Review

When it comes to makeup, I would never normally be seen dead buying any from Primark (I know, I know).  I just prefer to stick to brands I trust, d’ya know what I mean?  However, I was strolling past the makeup section in Primark recently and the cute baby pink packaging of the “Cotton Candy Collection” caught my eye – of course it did, it’s bloomin’ PINK!  After checking that nobody I knew was around (just kidding!), I stopped to have a closer look, and ended up picking up a couple of things.

Eye Candy Pigment

The Eye Candy Pigment is a definite Mac pigment dupe.  The shade I managed to get my hands on is a really pretty pale nude/pink shade called “iced gem”. I believe there are three shades available… but not in my local Primark there weren’t! Swatched here, with no primer it looks a bit pale, but on primed lids it is actually pretty decent for the £1.50 price tag, in comparison to £16.00 for Mac pigment. Also, if put on with a tiny bit of mixing medium for applying glitter, it makes the shimmer really “pop” – wow I sound like I really know what I’m talking about here!

Super Matte Lipsticks

I could see three shades of lipstick in my local Primark when I went in.  The other one was probably a bit on the dark side for me, so I didn’t pick it up.  To be honest, one of the ones I picked up is a tad darker than I would normally wear too. The shades I picked up are called “whipped cream” and “cream soda”. Unfortunately, I didn’t look to see which came out of which box, so I’ve taken a stab in the dark with the swatches! These lipsticks have a lovely, sweet smell to them, which I really like. These lipsticks have relatively good staying power, but are quite drying and need topped up fairly regularly. Although again, for the £2.00 price tag, can you really complain?

There were other things in this range that I didn’t pick up, but that are probably worth checking out, as they are definite dupes of higher-end makeup.

Have you got your hands on any of the Primark “Cotton Candy” makeup range?  Do you venture away from brands that you know and trust?

I would totally buy these for the packaging alone, they’re beautiful! I can’t believe they’re only £2 each, Primark is definitely one of my favourite stores 🙂
