Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past seven months, you will know that I love anything sparkly. I also adore pretty packaging. When I saw the Jouer Skinny Dip Ultra Foil Shimmer Shadows palette had been released, it went in and out of my basket begging the question “do I reeeeally need more glittery/shimmer eyeshadows?” But of course, the answer was yes. Yes, I seriously did need this palette.
Firstly, how could anyone resist the beautiful gold, shiny, metallic packaging? And secondly, how could anyone resist the gorgeous shimmery shades of eyeshadows inside this golden treasure chest?! Now I know that shimmers and metallics are not everybody’s cup of tea when it comes to eyeshadows, but for a sparkle-obsessive like me, these are just perfect.
Inside the palette are six shades – Star Light, Bikini, Skinny Dip, Tan Lines, Magic Hour and Midnight Swim.
These shades are so pigmented (as you can see from the swatches – one swipe of the finger) and are easily layered and blended. If you don’t fancy layering them, a simple accent of shimmer can be added to an everyday look to create that little extra sparkle. I’ve been using Star Light and Bikini on the inner corners of my eyes and the other four shades in the centre of my lids (not all at the same time!) I personally prefer to apply these shadows with a flat shader brush and sometimes for even more intensity, I add a touch of fixing spray to the brush after I’ve “dipped” it in the palette (be careful not to ruin eyeshadows by doing it the other way round!)
These ultra foil shadows have great staying power. I use a bit of Too Faced “Shadow Insurance” primer on my eyelids before using these. On me, these eyeshadows last all day and don’t crease at all.
Naturally, you can tell that I would shout from the rooftops that you should buy this palette… Even if it’s to stash away to create a Christmas look (see, I’m thinking ahead!) as it is limited edition. Who doesn’t want a palette of just shimmers/metallics in their collection, especially when it’s as pretty as this?
Have you already got your hands on this Jouer shimmer palette, or will you be looking to get it while it’s still available?
